I just bought it myself. I already invested this much in my PC, wouldn't feel right to cheap out on the accessories (though I totally understand if not everyone believes that).

I considered getting this, but then realized a clamp foldable light on my desk gets the same thing done and has more actual use than tethering a damn light to my monitor..........

Sadly you're right, these are awesome and expensive. I have the original for over 4 years. Use it daily and can't imagine not having it. Buying another for a new setup.

This is something you wouldn't know the difference until you try. Cheap knock offs wouldn't have the right light projection nor the spread. Color temp only matters if you need it. To whose who needs these features this is the end game.

I tried a $30 Amazon version and was unimpressed, but I bought the Xiaomi one for $60 and think it's pretty awesome. Probably not quite to level of BenQ but seems pretty close, especially with the wireless puck.
