I think the Alienware doesn't have PBP if you need that. Although honestly, I thought I'd use it more than I do.

Thank you, repped! This monitor is my great white buffalo.

QHD+
144hz
IPS
USB-C (thunderbolt 3)

This is going to be the perfect pair for my gaming PC and work laptop which are both used daily.

Had this monitor a 6 weeks (paid $1100) and while it's not perfect, I love it. I swap it between a surface pro and an intel MacBook on TB3 and a pc with a 4070. Screen space is awesome and gaming is amazing at 144hz Every half dozen switches between devices it will become unresponsive and need to be power cycled, but I've just wired my powerboard so I can do it in a few seconds.

Other than the lack of TB/USB C, why not buy the equivalent Alienware model? Much cheaper and 3 year warranty vs 1 year. Other specs are identical as far as I can tell.

The mullet of monitors; business up front, party time out the back.

Great monitor.

I took delivery of 38" alienware yesterday and completely love it so far. For $800 I couldn't ask for more, but to my surprise dell also sent a 200$ giftcard to use on dell.com. I didn't expect the last part.
Having usb-c would be great for work, but since i already had a small dock it did not matter

It's entirely about the USB-C for me, otherwise I would have gotten the OLED Alienware. I've had a USB-C ultrawide for 4 years now and I can't go back, it's simply too convenient for switching from work laptop to my gaming PC. The monitor this will replace is 3440x1440 and 75hz, so this is a pretty major upgrade on 2 fronts in my case

Alienware AW3423DW is rated higher across the board:
8.7 for gaming
8.7 mixed usage
9.3 HDR
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...e-aw3423dw

LG 38WN95C-W : great but lower ratings. notably HDR is 7.0 only

I do want ubc_c though

There is a similar AW monitor, AW3423DWF which I believe has PbP, however, you do lose G-Sync (among other things). I've been on the fence between these two. I do like how the LG has higher resolution (significantly cheaper than the Dell equivalent U3824DW atm and with G-Sync).

Uhg. This is the monitor I wanted but it was $1279 until today. $900 is a great price drop so I ordered it. Went to cancel my 45 ultragear preorder only to find they shipped it already. So now I guess I'll have both.

I'll try to refuse delivery of the 45" but maybe I'll try them out side by side first and see which one I really like better. It will probably be this one though.

Its OLED so not as good for productivity. Its also smaller and more expensive while still having the HDMI 2.0 limitation which means console FPS is gimped on it.

PnP is limited to Thunderbolt 3 and Display port if that matters. Also HDMI is 2.0 so you are limited to 75/85 hz or something like that for consoles.
