Don't listen to the haters, these things rule. These are the most rock-solid TV boxes I've ever owned, Nvidia keeps them updated, and they work great for gaming for the kiddos. I've got them in three rooms and have had mine for years. If one broke today I'd be buying one of these.
They just work. Every damn time.

I'm with you Ham. I had a dozen laggy crappy media players then I got this one. It doesn't stop working. Does what it's supposed to do. 4k. Atmos. It's fantastic. Got a 2nd one for the basement. If either ever stops working I'll get another.

i cant believe they still sell these turds lmao. for 200 dollars no less.

nvidia fanboys...oh well that why my nvidia stock is up 60% in like 3 months lol

i swear in 2080 these will still be being pimped on sd. this same exact model too, they havent updated these in going on a decade. the tegra x1 cpu is like that of a casio watch at this point.
1000% agree.I'm stuck with 3 of these turds. All 3 suck. It does not one thing right. They are slow, remotes always unpair randomly, laggy and unresponsive, and just feel outdated. With that said I feel every box I try is a similar experience. I have tried Roku, Firestick, and random android boxes on Amazon, and of course built-in TV apps. Tempted to try apple TV. While I agree these are turds I have yet to see something better other than an dedicated htpc. I feel these are the king of the turds in my experience. Can you recommend something?

Yeah they made a legit rock solid product and the experience is great. For cost per hour of trouble free enjoyment it's almost nothing. And I don't have some noname folks harvesting my data. Product is so good it makes me think I should buy Nvidia stock.

I'm still using my 2017 version.

I'm still rocking with the 2017 Nvidia Shield. Been tempted to upgrade to one of these but I keep wondering if a new one is right around the corner.

They work every damn time... except with AV1 and certain types of Dolby content. They are still the best Android box out there, and that's part of the reason they haven't bothered to update. The other reason is that the chip in this runs the Switch. If they update the Switch and release a new chip for it, we'll probably get a new Shield. Until then (or until the high end portion of the media box market becomes much more lucrative) you're not getting another Shield. There's just no good reason for NVIDIA to do it.

No idea what you are expecting out of a streaming device that nothing is working for you. Perhaps the latest appleTV is best for your use case.
Personally I run Roku, Firestick, and media pc and all do the job the were bought for.

I have to imagine that some of these just run poorly and some run incredibly well. Mine was fine until the big GoogleTV update and then it just chuggggged. I kept it for quite some time after but it was miserable. I did everything in the book.

The problem is that almost no one makes an all encompassing remote like the Nvidia one. Except, as I just discovered, the Verizon StreamTV. I tested the rocktek, homatics, and others but this one really sticks the landing for me and the remote is awesome.

Oh, and it's just a good android googletv with a skin. You do not need Verizon service.
