This site has a PSU hierarchy that might be helpful for you. I believe this is what he is referring to.

It's a power supply so don't over think it

The cultist list is a general use case of build quality of the components for instance if they use poor capacitors that will die in months hence causing risk to your other components

The minimum rating you ever should go for tier is C based from Reddit community, price not being an influence

That said there are several PSU that can be had for $40-60 easily at 400-600w

What exactly is that supposed to tell us? Is it not a good deal? Is there a better deal at this price point? It is simply bad? Not looking to spend $200+ on a power supply.

Thanks for that. Looking at the list, it was last updated in April. This GL series power supply was not announced until June, so I'm sure its tier is not official yet. Either way it's a $75 power supply, so should it be higher than tier C for that price point? Is tier C sufficient for a mid range computer? I just don't know how that comment added anything of value to the conversation without any counter-recommendation and why. My stack of MaximumPC magazines are quite outdated at this point, along with my 10 year old Seasonic PSU from that time period. I ended up bringing this MSI home, so I guess we will see how it does.

Here's a review they have in the spreadsheet of that tier list as a source (translated via Google). The review seems fine. Its only flag is being atx 3.0 compliant without that being specifically tested, I think. I wish someone would keep a running price list and make the damn thing easier to comprehend at a glance.

This seems like a pretty good value given that it's fully modular.

Good price. Fully modular. I bought it. Doesn't seem to be a "horrible" PSU. But im a noob.

Yes modular and semi modular are independent from the build quality

Think most people end up over spending or getting something that is utter trash so maybe that's why the list exists in the first place

Once you build your computer I doubt you will ever care about it beyond the initial unboxing from the occasional flip the toggle switch and cleaning the fan

Most molex connections are unused by today's standards and you are mainly just stuck with 2 extra pci 6+2 cables

Those who obsess over PSU quality these days don't know how good you have it.

Is this adequate for a 7900xtx and a i7-13700k build? Not gonna put anything else in there besides a 2tb nvme and 32gb ddr5. Power supply calculators are quoting me 700-800 watts just wasn't sure if middling that would be an issue

Trying to get 4k on an absolute barebones budget haha

Google says peak power draw for 7900xtx is 355w and 253w for CPU.. leaves 150w buffer in case they peak at same time… would think you're fine.
