No Matter = pass. I know a lot of people will be happy with Google Home or Alexa integration, but they still rely on the cloud.

Still works from local if you use something like Hubitat or HomeAssistant w/ their add-ons to control/monitor them. They can still be connected to the cloud services for remote or phone controls, but be involved in local automations too.

I'll pass due to no energy monitoring.

Oh I didn't know that. I have a few already set up. If I configure my HA with kasa, they would run locally? Do I need to do anything like reset they etc?

While I use Hubitat, the same setup is available in HA. The custom app in Hubitat scans the local network (you define the subnet to scan) for the kasa devices (wall-switches too) and sets them up as a available device that are controllable locally. (If you can set them to static IPs in your DHCP service, that is better so they don't potentially jump around on IPs, though this may not be a problem if you don't unplug them.) No reset needed, no other firmware - and they are still cloud/phone controllable too. TPLink Kasa devices are pretty simply and easy with the local controllers thanks to community work.

Yep. It will just work perfectly. My process has been: Use the Kasa app to setup the device -> I configured static ip for it -> add the device to HA via Kasa Integration using the local IP. Never miss a beat.
