Your vehicle has to support CarPlay to use this device. Tesla doesn't support Android auto or CarPlay

TVs and appliances are 90 days. All other electronics are still lifetime returns.

no reviews on costco. anyone have this?

edit: read the stream of reviews on best buy. lots of people say it work and others say it's a piece of crap. the reviews are almost all complimentary gifts to reviewers so i'm not super confident

costco does not have a lifetime return on electronics.according to to their website it's 90 days. but it's unclear if this counts as that.
Their website is intentionally vague. It's only some electronics that are limited. I've returned many electronics and used to work at their returns desk. It's mostly just computers and TVs that are limited to 90 days.

You can tell by going to the product page for a product and checking under "Shop Confidently." If it says anything about 90 days, it's limited to 90 days. If it does not, their standard return policy applies.

I've returned a Switch, AirPods, etc without issue.

How do you charge your phone?
I don't need to. My drives are short. And if I do need to charge, the wireless adapter I bought has a USB passthrough so I can plug in my phone to charge/connect if I wish to. 99% of the time though my phone has enough juice to last my commute. And I have a desk job and I can charge my phone at work if needed.

i bought a 2023 car that only had wired CarPlay While it worked fine, it was kind of a pain to plug in the phone to get the feaures. One of the recommendations for this particular model was to add wireless a CarPlay adaptor.

After much research, I picked up this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C7K7B7ML/

Like all CarPlay adaptors, the reviews are mixed. I can't remember why I got this over the other Ottoplay models, but it has been fine. I think it's only failed to connect once that wasn't my fault. (Other things that will cause it to fail that were my fault is having Wifi off, having something tethered through personal hotspot, etc)

All and all, I love the upgrade to wireless CarPlay and the ease of just getting in the car and having everything connected.

Highly recommend getting one if you have wired CarPlay, but it seems YMMV.
What's the difference between the one from Amazon you linked and this Costco one?

So just to be clear: your car already has to have CarPlay, but now you plug this in instead of plugging your phone in?

So this is a $70 adapter for people who don't want to take their phone out of their pocket?

I guess I could see this being good if your lightning port is shot, but otherwise...really? Seventy dollars just to have something else plugged in instead of your phone? Wow.
I went from:
a) years of having phone connected wirelessly via bluetooth
b) then to wired android auto
c) and finally to adding the wireless AA dongle from motorola

I found that:
a) With wired AA, it wasn't worth the hassle to plug in my phone for short trips
b) and when I did, I would forget my phone in the car and have to go back for it because of years of muscle memory of it being in my pocket

I'm very satisfied with my purchase of the Motorola wireless AA dongle for a similar price, have no issues, and now get the benefit of AA on all trips with the convenience of leaving my phone in my pocket. It's easily worth double or triple this price to me.

These types of things are $30-$40 on Amazon and you can return just as easily if it doesn't work.

Best to bring your receipt to the return desk and have them verify on the computer; Costco keeps better record of purchases than Sam's Club. Consumer electronics is not lifetime, e.g. fitbit, laptop, etc.
I returned a Meta Quest 2 after 6 months last year. Only certain electronics are limited to 90 days.

I guess same thing can be say about car remote and keyless entry. You still insert key to open car door right?Confused

Don't understand the purpose of this product until Apple forces us to use something like this when they inevitably get rid of the cable altogether…

You plug in your phone and charge simultaneously. Why buy an unnecessary dongle and leave your phone not plugged in using a device that could fail at anytime?

I can't speak for this particular brand, but my general feeling on these devices (owning 3 different ones) is that they all work, but only about somewhere between 90%-97% and that non-100% rate is why people really hate them. When they work, they are great, but their failures every 10th or 20th time really drives people insane. I have to fight with mine every week or two just to get it to recognize. I can deal with it, but I can see how that can be frustrating. Especially since native wireless support (when present) is pretty flawless.
I have 2023 Gladiator and the Apple CarPlay does the same thing. It will work fine and then I stop to grab something and take my iPhone 14 into the store and when I plug it back in for no reason it will not recognize my iPhone.

Why even have Wifi? It's so stupid, when you could just have perfect internet by running ethernet cables to every single device in your house, then you wouldn't even have to worry about your wifi signal being weak.

I tried to get a costco manager to define consumer electronics, no luck. Certain items are at the manager's discretion for return.
