Well I took the plunge and got the T9 4gb. Nowhere near the discounts you describe but
I did use my EDU discount and Chase for 20% cash back.

If you read the details of the 20% offer, it states that it won't apply when using a third party payment service.

With no credit cards to get any sort of deal, the T7 Shield is IP65 and the T9 is just faster? And even at the 199 I still feel like this is a slick deal for a 4tb portable SSD unless I'm just really out of touch lately. I plan on replacing my 2.5" portable spinny bois with one of these and maybe another 2tb eventually for music samples and similar media.
