is the wyze app REQUIRED to setup and use this switch or is it optional?

Is this a WiFi extender?
No. Electric plug that can be controlled (on/off, schedules, etc) by WiFi using the Wyze app or other means. Very good product with lots of uses.

Brickseek doesn't show prices anymore?? So they require account creation now, they added annoying ads, and they removed features?🤦

It does have a physical button on the side to turn it on and off, but that's it without the app.

So yes the app is required for full set up, but then you can add it to your Google home or Alexa and use it from those apps after.

Couldn't get these to set up on the app, ended up getting kasa plugs instead

Thanks Chris for your response, I know that app is usually required for full setup, but some smart switches can still be paired with Alexa or Google home let's say, once the said company goes out of business. Id like to avoid that failure point
