Been using Quicken since 1997. At one point I had switched to Microsoft Money which I ended up liking a lot. Too bad they discontinued that and back to Quicken I went. This product has not improved in any meaningful way in the last 10 years and in some ways it's worse. It seems more buggy now than it ever has. It takes multiple minutes to download transactions, when it used to be very fast. Occasionally some data corruption will occur and that's when good backups come into play. The fact that it works with all of my financial institutions is what keeps me using it. I'd love to switch to something else but I don't want to store my data in a cloud service.

I don't recommend this product for new users.
Nothing on the page says it's for new subscriptions only so I'm going to bite. I also checked other retailers for the same product number (170457) and none of them mentioned any restrictions.

However, be aware of the following (from Quicken's site):
A membership can only be extended in the last six months of a subscription term. You can extend a subscription term by redeeming an activation code in a retail copy. However, this also can only be done in the last six months of your current subscription term. Therefore, multiple terms cannot be purchased and used at once to extend a membership.

Retail purchases: Activation codes are good for one year after purchase.

I don't see how Quicken would know when you bought your subscription from Newegg. So, if I had more than 6 months remaining on my existing subscription, I'd save my proof of purchase in case I needed Quicken support help with activation.

Is this one good for renewal?
If the box does not say new customers only, it works for renewals. Typically, it's the download version that is only for new customers (although someone claimed that it worked for their renewal; I've never tried it and don't intend to).

FYI : I had 63 days left on my Quicken Premier subscription, so I got in on the Quicken Premier deal for $40. It arrived today and I applied the new activation code to my existing install and now my membership expires 1-year later (in 2025). So it works.

The only negative I saw was when I pulled the box containing the code out of the envelope mailer, it looked like it was crushed, but since there's only a code inside, no biggie. What looked suspicious was the little round plastic sticker piece on the box seemed to have been opened, but it could've just been the "stick-em" wore off and when it got crushed, it kind of peeled back. In any case, it's a one-use activation code, and mine worked, so I'm not worried... I think. lol.

Quicken offer it at the same price on their website ($2.5/mo billed annually = $30). Does anyone know what's the difference ordering it from Quicken vs from Newegg?

I just received the activation code by UPS from Newegg. My quicken subscription expires within six months (Mar 15, 2024); this activation code worked like a charm, extended my subscription to March 15, 2025.

What script for download conversion?? That would be slick.

It's called importqif by quicken perlwiz a developer who, like the rest of us, just wanted to import transactions from their bank to reconcile accounts.

You still have to download the quicken file from your bank, but the free program actually pulls down the data and adds it to your quicken.

Incredibly useful if you have the pre- subscription based version of quicken (2017 and later).
