it's significantly better than the Quest 2. The display is much more clear due to the pancake lenses. Owned the 2 for years, and was always readjusting the headset to find the tiny sweet spot that was crystal clear. The Quest 3 is always clear across the entire field of view. I'd try to get one at a discount instead of going for the 2.

I own both.

I LOVE the Quest 3 and I'm super happy I upgraded. But, for 1/2 the price the Quest 2 is OUTSTANDING. Even if on paper it's "twice the hardware"​, I'm not convinced it's twice the experience/fun.

For anyone looking to get into VR gaming, the Quest 2 is still very viable and a great device for $250.

Ah I didn't know I thought it was suppose to come out in December. But 500 bucks is a bit out there, not sure how great the Quest 3 but for that price it better be making me coffee in the morning.

I got a similar deal from target. Just say that it is not comfortable for people with big face, or wear glasses. Im going to order a pair of prescribe lenses but my face cannot be saved by quest2. I WILL return and order quest3 instead.

Thanks for your comment on the "tiny sweet spot"! I've used the Quest 2 at my friends place and was looking for a deal on it but I always hated how I could rarely get the view to be nice and crisp. If Quest 3 is always beautifully clear, I'll steer away from Quest 2 and wait for a deal on Quest 3.

I think I'm gonna be looking for cheap used Quest 2s as people move to the 3.

Mostly I just want to play Half Life: Alyx because I finally have a strong enough PC--might mess around with some other stuff too, but I don't want to make a big investment.

Quest 3 is twice the hardware. I have a functioning Quest 2 and will probably donate it and jump on the first Q3 sale that comes up.

My kids stopped using the Quest 2 because it's an unexciting experience. The graphics are so underwhelming that once the novelty of VR wears off it's not much fun to play.
