"Usually"? Never seen that beyond when they discontinue items.
Um, I was responding to a comment SPECIFICALLY critiquing the aesthetic. That's why I mentioned the looks.

This company is very, very highly regarded among "backpackers". Go to the OneBagger subreddit and look up reviews and posts — AER is considered one of the very best designers of backpacks / travel bags around. You can also check YouTube where you'll see they have a cult following and are quite consistently ranked as some of the best bags you can buy. The Travel Pack was voted #1 by a large publication too (I forget, I think it was Men's Health or GQ or something).

The materials they use are top notch and will last you many, many years. I watched a YouTube review where the guy said he dragged his back across the pavement in a city to test the durability and it didn't have a single scratch. It's made with materials used in bulletproof vests I believe. Extremely high quality and well designed, and again, just look up any YouTube breakdowns to see the level of love AER gets.

I have the Travel Pack 3 in X-Pac and absolutely love it. I travel a ton for work, and literally just got back from 8 days in Medellin, Colombia. I've never had an issue with the pack being excessively noisy, and the bright orange interior is great for visibility. Expensive, but a fantastic product.

Buy once, cry once.
Can it fit under an airplane chair?

They made a big miss in designing the travel pack by not having the main zipper open at the top. Would have bought if they made that one improvement.

A few of these seem great. Shame the company seems out of touch with what reasonable pricing on a decent backpack should be.

Aer makes some of the highest quality bags on the market. I've used their original Fit Pack for several years and it still looks excellent.

Definitely don't feel they're inappropriately priced. Look at other bags by Black Ember or Evergoods and you'll find Aer is actually priced below the market.

Just grabbed their City Pack Pro for my EDC bag for work and quick trips out of town.
