If your car (head radio unit) has wired Android Auto or/and Carplay capability, this device makes it wireless. So it basically makes the connection between your car and your android phone or your iPhone wireless. Instead of plugging in USB cable from your car to your phone every time to make connection, you plug this device in to your USB port on your car, and the connection to your phone would be wireless.

Hopefully I won't confuse you even more.

Purchased 2 on the last deal, got pretty scared after seeing some of the comments that this is a shill post and these aren't good but I've been running one in my car and one in my wife's car for CarPlay for the last 2-3 weeks and they work just as good as the Motorola MA1 worked for me which I believe is pretty universally regarded as the best Android Auto device. Also a whole lot easier to setup. No regrets so far.

Biggest drawback which is Pass for me: you cannot pair this with multiple phones. Some other similar devices have that functionality

I got one a few months ago, and it works pretty well with 2019 Ford Fiesta ST and 2023 Mazda CX-30 although I have only tried it with Apple Carplay.

I wouldn't call Carlinkit the best but they are usually ok. My wife uses CarPlay and every few months we have to remove the device from her phone and pair it again. I use a different brand and have never had a single issue but the one posted here has a more appealing price. If I was only using Android Auto I'd get something else. There's too many good AA adapters to name but the CarPlay landscape is more bleak.

Read some bad reviews that made me hesitant during the last sale. I must be lucky because no issues at all in my Tahoe. Connects as soon as I get in the car. Unlocking my car turns on its power and music starts blasting without me having to start the ignition. Everything just works as it should. A little lag when hitting next, but I think it was like that connecting through USB as well.

Is it easy to switch phones when 2 drivers are using the same car? I returned MA1 1.5 years ago because it was a royal pain.

I accidentally placed the order because the "submit" button is labelled "continue". Very sneaky. How good is their return policy?

Looks like a run of the mill Chinese vendor website. Won't be easy.

There is no free return and probably no return at all. If you want this brand better to get from Amazon for $54 right now.

Can it not be paired with 1 Android and 1 iOS phone?
Or do you mean that we can't connect both devices at the same time, but can switch from one to another?

I bought this a year or two ago (not sure if this specific version, but definitely the same product from the same retailer). Upon power up, you can select which phone you want to connect to (android or iPhone, doesn't matter). One phone per power cycle.

For this price, the convenience is worth it. Wired CarPlay is a pain and this gets the job done. I would say 5% of the time, it seems unresponsive (led stays solid red). This can be annoying but I just unplug for a few minutes and try again. The version I had also had scaling issues with Android, but iPhone works great.

I saw a Costco SD for different adapter that is more expensive. Would hope that is more reliable if you are willing to pay. But this is worth $37 imo.
