Disagree. This is a solid grinder. Grinders are expensive to make. They require precision and accuracy when making the burrs and aligning the drive system to get a consistent grind without a ton of fines. The burr design takes numerous iterations to get the flavor profile you want (Lance Hendrick talks about this in his video on the Ode 2)The motor requires enough power for the job. The Ode also has antistatic tech which makes a huge difference in retention and reduces messiness.

I dare you to make a grinder like this for less. You can't.

If you think this is overpriced, chances are this grinder isn't marketed toward you. Stick with your cheap burr grinder or whirlybird, if you're happy with it.
You can tell someone on their Customer Support team was tired of answering that question.
The encore produces more fines which leads to over extraction - however the encore is a damn good grinder - more so with the upgraded burrs. The advantage of this grinder is the flat burrs designed for filter coffee, the ability to upgrade to ssp burrs (though the gen 2 burrs are good enough for me), the anti static tech - and the ability to single dose with very little retention.
As with all grinders as taste is very subjective all that matters is how it tastes for you.

I have been waiting on the grinder was hoping for 25% but I purchased anyway. I use a Hario switch so I have no need for gooseneck kettle.

The Opus is also on sale it is a cheap option for espresso - but you would do better going for a Eureka mignon - or for a 1zpresso hand grinder which are also 20% currently.

We've had a gen 2 ode with ssp mp burrs a little over a year now, absolutely love the thing. We use it exclusively with our moccamaster and it's been great. The workflow is so much better than the mignon manuale we were using previously

My Baratza Encore does as good a job for my Moccamaster at half the price so just shut up.

Got the Gen 1? as a gift last year. Not sure what kind of improvements were made but even though I like it, I would recommend looking elsewhere. When grinding i'm tapping it on the top and sides to make sure the ground come out. Had multiple times when after using it I see grounds come out when putting it up.

I'm not a power user so my use is about two or three times a week (cold brew and pour over). but a coworker that has his entire family use it has experienced multiple jams through their use.
(if using a lot of dark roast beans it is recommended to perform a regulars cleaning of the burrs due to the oils in dark roast beans. again I'm not using it everyday so I've done it twice in the last year.)

No Espresso setting, even the updated burrs won't allow for espresso.

For the price, i feel most people can find something else the better fits their needs.

I am not aware of a better option for filter coffee (very few grinders excel at both filter and espresso) at this price point. To me it was down to this or a 1zpresso ZP6 or K ultra, and the bottom line was I was too lazy for hand grinding every day. If the price was right I would have gone for a Eureka Brew pro but it is around $600. There are flaws in every grinder - but Fellow addressed most of them in gen 2. I held off for a long time because i am allergic whenever there is a lot of hype - and this grinder (and gen 1) is so hyped in coffee forums and reviews - but after an honest assessment I swallowed my pride and bought it anyway because I could not find another alternative.
I did consider Eureka filtro and crono but because I do one cup only it did not make sense for me.
