We've had no issues with the pieces fitting and have started to always use them. We haven't played with the new boards.
I'd recommend the expansion as well.
Edit: is the chocolate version the same as the base just a different color palette?

I looked up the price from my Amazon wishlist which I use to track purchase prices both at Amazon and other stores. I bought at $15.99 at Target (online) two years ago. Good game.
Does anyone know of a universal wishlist that tracks prices at Amazon and at other major retailers and gives price alerts?
