MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 x16 ATX Video Card RTX 4070 GAMING X SLIM 12G [newegg.com] is
$496.64 + tax with free shipping using Zip payment promo code
ZIP111 and
$30 mail-in rebate [newegg.com]. Full retail price is $630. Here's the savings breakdown:
- $630 retail (boo Nvidia)
- $45 Black Friday Savings
- $58 off with Zip payment promo code ZIP111 for 11% off ($64.35 but subtract $6 for Zip processing fee)
- $30 mail-in rebate [newegg.com]
That's $630 list - $45 BF - $64.35 ZIP111 promo + $6 Zip processing fee - $30 MIR = $496.64 + tax for a cool, quiet, and OC'd 4070 card.
This 4070 card has boost clock of 2610 MHz, 135 MHz higher than the stock boost speed. MSI Gaming X Slim also has some RGB and a quiet, three-fan design. Note this card uses the 16-pin 12VHPWR power connector unlike some other 4070 cards which just use the 8-pin connector. I think this card is worth it over the $515 Zotac 4070 card, but you could snag that one instead for $458 using the ZIP111 promo--especially if you need a shorter card.
Zip pay is

, but $58 off for five minutes of effort seems worth it to me. It requires a soft credit check from Experian and will charge you the $6 fee even if you pay everything right away. I temporarily thawed my Experian credit online and then immediately refroze it afterwards. When checking out on Newegg, you'll need to select the Zip payment option after applying the ZIP111 promo code and then follow the Zip prompts. Zip asked for my address, phone number, and birthdate but not for an SSN. You'll be charged the first ~$120 or so initially, but I was able to easily pay off the remaining balance on the Zip website after checkout.
MSI rebates aren't guaranteed, but I've had good luck and will roll the dice again. What fun is SD if you don't live a little dangerously, right?
And before we start the Radeon vs. GeForce war, I'm personally very tempted by the strong rasterization performance of the 7800XT and 6800XT. But I need CUDA support and can benefit from stronger AI compatibility and performance. But feel free to use ZIP111 on your GPU of choice, comrades! And to those of you who can stay strong until this Friday, I hope an even better deal comes along. Sub $500 for a non-stock card was my line in the sand, and by Gabe, it's time to finally start building this rig instead of monitoring prices all day.
