I've personally had the equivalent of this waffle maker model for about 10 years, and only recently did anything fail on it though it still works (the LED light cover for the indicator fell out). I went through some higher-end products in the $100-150 range, and all of them failed because of electronic design defects. First one made it a year or so, the warranty replacement made it 4 months, and the store-bought replacement only 2 months. Checked out reviews on other middle-tier ($100-200) products and they had similar failings. Grabbed this one on a whim for cheap and while the waffles weren't quite as good, they were 90% as crisp, cooked properly, and 10 years of problem-free usage has made me a believer. Just bought this one to replace my original Oster.
