Fully immerse yourself in the amazing aerial views and unbridled speed of drone flying with the combo version of the DJI FPV Drone. Using the bundled FPV Goggles V2, you get a first-person view of what the drone sees, with footage that makes it feel like you're the one flying through the sky. The onboard 4K60 fps gimbal camera can send low-latency video to your goggles for a near real-time experience. The 150° super-wide FOV lets you take in and appreciate the scope of the vistas you fly over.

With three different flying modes to choose from, you can fly at your own personal comfort level. When fully unleashed, the FPV Drone can speed across the sky at up to 87 mph. Even at this blistering speed, DJI's RockSteady EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) technology will help ensure the footage you capture is smooth. You can capture video on an optional microSD card (up to 256GB) at 120 Mb/s. Whether you enjoy breakneck racing or leisurely touring beautiful terrain, the FPV Drone gives you an intimate experience, unlike traditional piloting.

From a lot of the videos I watched discussing these two options, it seems like Avata is the clear winner. Here are some of the benefits people mentioned:
  • Great for beginners because the propellers are protected
  • Easier to use because the design keeps it more stable
  • Propellers don't need to be removed to transport the drone
  • The FPV drone records the front two propellers of the drone while the Avata is an unobstructed view
  • Better camera; 48MP vs 12MP

Benefits of the FPV:
  • Faster 86mph vs 60mps
  • Power helps when its windy
  • Better obstacle detection; 3 sensors (Front, back, and bottom) vs 1 sensor on the Avata (Bottom)

Having said all this, I decided to go with the FPV over the Avata because it seems to be designed more for speed and agility. The Avata is geared more towards beginners and cinematography. Even though I'm a beginner, I could care less about the video recording aspect.

The dji fpv is super easy to learn to fly. The main thing is the altitude hold. Typical fpv quads do not have it and while it gives more agility, it also makes it much easier to crash. If you fly the DJI fpv in a wide open area like a beach, you really cannot crash it. It is a very fun drone for sure. Now if you do crash it, it will be more expensive to fix (often not worth it even). On the other hand the quad alone is not that expensive anymore and eBay abounds with uses/refurbished.
