The upcharges are actually set by the store.... around me for example Food Lion does not upcharge at all from in-store pricing, while Publix upcharges a CRAZY amount (and most other chains are somewhere in between)
You can check if a given store upcharges or not this way-
So Food Lion for example says
"Food Lion sets the price of items on the Instacart marketplace. Item prices for this retailer reflect the average in-store prices in your area"
While Publix says
"Publix sets item prices on this platform. Publix delivery, curbside pickup, Publix Liquors, and Publix Quick Picks item prices are higher than item prices in physical store locations. "
How to check-
I also have this deal, but I don't think its worth it
i often get $40 off $80 coupon, but can't find anything worth buying. Prices are inflated, and when including their fees, would cost more than buying directly from stores

Is instacart good? They seem to upcharge like crazy on items.
I highly recommend Instacart. They are johnny on the spot correcting any complaints I have that are charged to my account. There have been instances when a driver dumped another customers packages off on my porch rather than make another delivery. Instacart's policy is if it gets into the customers house, the driver is not to redeliver. Instacart lets me keep the packages with no charge to me.

(BTW, it was on a banner at the top of their webpage, didn't need the app)
Would be worth it to unlock that $15 credit/month from Chase Reserve...
