Would the A750 OC be a worthwhile upgrade from a GTX 970? Considering it for my son's rig. I should probably upgrade the old i7-2700 first...

The error message says this about zip111

Sorry. One or more promo codes are no longer available and have been removed.

Zip111 requires the use of ZIP as the payment method.

It'll be alot faster than that GTX970. Yikes on the CPU, if it's a K model I would at least try to overclock it to as near as 6ghz as possible which will help alot.. Also although reBAR isn't necessary, not having it for the ARC GPU's is a big hit to performance..

Pertaining to the ARC Architecture, I've had nothing but problems with instability and crashes on older hardware (Pre-10th Gen). I haven't use a 770, but I've tried the A380 (both versions - powered and non-powered) and I had constant crashing and programs froze all over the place. Good luck playing older titles as well. These graphics cards are hit or miss, and miss more often than not.

Intel requirements for ALL ARC are:
1. Resizable BAR or Smart Access Memory must be enabled for optimal performance in all applications using Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics.
2. Intel 10th Gen and newer or Ryzen 500/600 Series Motherboards with Smart Access Memory Enabled. Most Ryzen 3000 (Excluding 3000G Series), 5000, and 7000 series processors. (Don't know why 4000 series were ommited...?)

Curious what the idle wattage draw is on this card?

I dont really game, but I do a ton of content creation and CAD solid modeling. However it would be nice to have the option to play modern games and sims. But since my PC is on 24/7 I dont want to double my electric bill. My current 5670 HD card is nearly 14 years old, and requires a driver hack just to support monitors greater than 1080p. It's a 5900x 32GB rig, so graphics card is far and away the weak link. Seems that between the agressive pricing and recent driver improvement, the ARC is hard to beat for the money, though I know its not as efficient as some others.

Thanks for any suggestions

Man…. Really tempting. But unfortunately I need cuda cores for some apps I use. Ugh. Intel support needs to hurry up

The A750 is a substantial upgrade over your 970, but that CPU is going to hold you back in a lot of games.

I have a very well balanced system with an i7-8700K 3.7Ghz, Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 motherboard, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800), and a Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB Founders Edition card. My Monitor is an AOC AG352UCG which is a G-Sync 100hz. Everything is rock solid for 5 years. I run everything GeForce Experience Optimized and I'm fairly happy, I can just tell it is getting long in the tooth.

Should I upgrade my GPU or wait for a complete build? Would a 16GB 770 be a reasonable upgrade?

I play Starfield, Elite Dangerous, DCS, MSFS, and older games.

I have almost exactly the same setup. Still rocks. But 770 needs gen 10 to work well as you will need resize bar, not sure any mb manufacturer back ported to gen 8.

anyway, I still bought the 770 from Amazon as I am putting together a new 14gen pc.

Resize BAR is supported in the Gigabyte BIOS (I have v15) , you need to enable "Above 4G" support and it appears.

The discounted A770 mentioned earlier looks like an absolute steal. Unfortunately, it's a 225W card and my gaming rig runs some proprietary PSU and I'm too lazy to cut and solder a bunch of wires to run a traditional PSU.

Still waiting for a solid A380 deal. My WFH PC rocks a Radeon RX460 that BSOD's itself every week despite frequent driver updates. Something about remote desktop just really pisses it off over time. If anyone sees anything, please post it.
