I dunno, I'd say, once you get into more involved jobs or just own more cars, you'll find that a kit with 4 wrench sizes isn't enough and you'll have to buy a full wrench set anyway. The only sets with a full wrench set without size gaps is in the 400+ piece sets and those are approaching $300-400.

It use to be that asian cars only used the JIS sizes (8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24), which is why you see smaller sets only have those sizes. But more modern cars use the whole range (13, 15, 16, 18, 22). The only sizes I've yet to see are 9, 11, and 20; I guess you could skimp out on those, but who knows maybe european or american cars use those.
The problem is that most of these kits have a very limited selection of wrenches, and also compromise on some other parts. With this kit, you get a mostly complete set of sockets, which is hard to find in any kit. I think it's better to just get something like this and a separate set of wrenches which will be more complete. More often I've felt regret that when I needed a tool of a certain size, the damn thing wasn't there, so had to go buy additional tools onesy-twosy.. And now I have drawers full of one off things that are all disorganized and a new head scratching future project of how to organize them.
Ty OP. I've been wanting this for a while and agree 99 probably isn't happening. I can live with 132

Yes! My sweetspot was $135.
With $6 shipping, this is a little higher, but only by $1-2.

BEST set on the market for anyone interested in automotive work or needing 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" set of ratchets and sockets with practically NO FILLERS.

These are not for impacts, so collect those sockets and extensions from yard sales, estate sales, mad-momma divorce sales, and Harbor Freight/Amazon. But if any of these break, DeWalt will send you a replacement.

Yeah the warranty is good, I primarily use 3/8 1/2 9/16 for work, if they break I always get a brand new replacement.

Got 1. Now I can retire my Husky kit and turn 10 minute vehicle repairs into 10 hour ones.

Looks like at least two guys who were victims of mad-momma divorce sales have seen this comment.

The key is to hide the tools before getting the side action or declaring divorce. Do I have to provide instruction on everything? This isn't reddit. Big Grin

If anyone is buying a basic mechanic's kit for the first time, may I recommend, in my humble personal opinion, that you buy a kit that has wrenches also. The ratchets are awesome and essential, but you'll also want and need a wrench at some point, too. I have a kit like this, and a smaller, cheaper on that includes wrenches that I bought 20 years ago, and i turn to the combo kit every time.
