For traveling executives (or others who travel without any assistance and just have a laptop to hook up in a client's board/meeting room) and who also want to stand up at the projector screen or TV and advance their own slides/point things out (how slide decks are these days they are usually designed to point things out, so the laser pointer probably not being used as much; regardless it's still an invaluable tool).
I assure you, coming from someone who regularly sees people come unprepared to in-person meetings: if someone busted this out and advanced his own slides/etc I would not see that as "cringy".
Probably partly cloudy 🌤️
From someone that is in them regularly working with doctors all over the country, the medical industry will disagree with your opinion. Not to mention working in sterile environments having to point out things while I'm not sterile. Laser pointers are a godsend.
And the genius talking about red being out of favor. Green being brighter isn't a positive. It also means it's more damaging to the eyes. Work with them around reflective surfaces as I do, it's not a good thing.
