Pay the extra $11 for the Pencil 2
I would say if you plan on drawing, definitely worth it to get the 2. Also it's really nice to be able to charge it directly on the iPad, assuming your iPad has that capability.

Anyone tried the Pencil (USB-C) and compared it to the Pencil Gen 2? Is there any noticeable difference?

Already got the Gen 2 with my 12.9 iPad Pro, I was just curious to read about others experiences.

Considering there's no pressure sensitivity on the USB-C model I would think it's a very different experience.

Given how often the 2nd generation pencil goes on sale I don't think anyone should go with the new USB-C model, unless they are using a base model iPad 10th Gen, even then it's probably worth getting the gen 1 for that unless you absolutely don't need the pressure sensitivity.

Pencil 2 is not compatible with my 10th Gen iPad, unfortunately. It makes me wish I bought a different iPad...

USB-C model is to replace the first gen pencil when the Gen 9 iPad is phased out.

My magnetic connector of the iPad 12.9 (not sure which gen) was broken and my pencil 2 cannot connect any more (still can connect to my wife's iPad). I am now using esr stylus pen, and wondering a) anyway to connect apple pencil 2 without using the magnetic connector; b) the USB-c one vs the esr stylus pen? TIA.

Right, but his comment still stands. There's no pressure sensitivity in this model, Gen 1 has it. Such a stupid decision by Apple and fragments the Apple Pencil models already more than it is.
