Given how often the 2nd generation pencil goes on sale I don't think anyone should go with the new USB-C model, unless they are using a base model iPad 10th Gen, even then it's probably worth getting the gen 1 for that unless you absolutely don't need the pressure sensitivity.
Pencil 2 is not compatible with my 10th Gen iPad, unfortunately. It makes me wish I bought a different iPad...
