Is this the laptop that melts genitalia? I know a couple of their models have bad thermals.

HX at the end of the sku means it's unlocked.

Are you folks going to thumbs down exactly what Intel is saying?

HX is desktop silicon repackaged for laptops:

https://www.anandtech.com/show/18...d-u-series

The i5-13500HX has 6 P-cores. It doesn't appear to be completely identical to the desktop i5-13500 because the iGPU is smaller (16 EUs).

The i5-13500H has only 4 P-cores, less L3 cache, but has a much larger iGPU (80 EUs).

Awesome deal, a high TDP 4050, I am in, best deal on a laptop yet. Still need to spend another $80 to get the memory to 32GB's... but the rest is fine for me to use at work and game on my downtime.

As the doc stated, yes it is, I havent decdied if I want to save money and just go up to 16GB by buying one additional 8GB for $21 or get a dual kit for $71 for 32GB.... My OCD on matching kits might make me go the more expensive route. Cant wait to get it delivered so I can put it through its paces.

Okay... All I did was repeat what Intel says about the SKU suffix

Once you hit 100 watts on these mobile GPUs there's not really a performance gain. Without any information on the screen brightness, this might not really be that great of a deal at all.

It's also gigabyte, not exactly a brand known for their longevity with laptops. You're buying open box which means warranty may or may not be full, and most credit cards won't extend the warranty on an open boxed item.

Actually looking at youtube videos of the different wattage's, over 100watts matters even on the 4050. The 4050 45 watt is pure garbage and it was no better than a low level 3050, that was on a lot of the $700-800 deals (like the target deal that I returned). This 4050 at 140watts should be more powerful than a 140watt 3060 and with frame generation it will smoke it like nothing, an easy 30-40% increase in FPS.

As for gigabyte, been around for well over 40+ years and they been making laptops for at least the last 10+ so I have no problem taking a risk on them. Plus I get till Jan to test drive it.... Can always buy the protection plan from best buy too...

There is no better budget gaming laptop out there if you can still get the open box excellent.
