Bought 2 for going in the Synology DS224+ also on sale, both from amazon for 5% cash back .

Yeah in raid 1 that's small for most people, but meets my needs and then some.

Thanks!

Highest power requirements too. Good grief, I never realized what an outlier it is in the line.

Same price at B&H and Newegg. B&H shows temporarily out of stock. This model (EFBX) also shows as being discontinued. What is going on with NAS hard drives lately? Seems to be a huge shortage on the smaller capacity drives compared to last year. Unless you want a huge capacity drive at a ridiculous price.

I totally agree. I've been watching 4-6 TB prices for a good year now and they've definitely increased.

I really want to get some additional Red Plus drives to replace my 3 TB ones, but I just got the BB deal for the 18 TB WD Easystore for $199. Most are saying it's likely a white label HC550 and will likely perform similar.

Just a heads up if anyone else is looking for that deal as it goes in and out of availability right now.

Or the 18tb WD from BB (id go wtih that one). There are some good shuckable drive deals out right now that are in the $10-11/tb range that are a much better deal.

What's a good deal on a hdd as second internal drive for a new desktop build? Looking for 4-6 TB. Mainly for docs, photos, video storage; not used as a media server. Are some external drives not shuckable?

Dumb question, but just to confirm, there's no real drawbacks to mixing and matching NAS drives, right? I've got a 4 bay NAS with two 10tb Seagate Ironwolf drives. I'd like to get two more 10tb drives, preferably two more matching Ironwolfs, but if they all play nicely together who cares.

I also snagged this for use in the Synology 224+

I wanted to lock something in, but will keep hope for a better deal (or a quieter/lower power drive) tomorrow.

Usually not. Depends on your set up the size will matter. If you use Synology hybrid raid then you can put different size HD and it will do it's thing but if you go with traditional RAID the sizes need to match
