Blu-Ray for $22 also a good price, especially as digital codes for Paramount blu-rays redeem in 4K on iTunes when there's a 4K copy available.

Yes I would add that only #5 & #6 got an AQ upgrade and the transfers weren't that great, which is unfortunate!

In my experience, if it's a Blu-ray Disc code it only gives me HD. This was for doctor strange in like 2019

If you redeem the HD code in iTunes (given that it gives you an Apple code), it will upgrade automatically to 4K if there is a 4K version available in the iTunes library.

If you redeem HD code anywhere else, then it only redeems in HD.

With one caveat, all Paramount codes are not Movies Anywhere enabled, so you will only be able to watch on iTunes/Apple TV.

I believe if you had used your Doctor Strange code at the Disney site to get the iTunes code instead or redeeming it at Movies Anywhere you would have gotten the 4K digital version.

Why does 4k UHD cost more than Blu-Ray?

Is this a pattern in general?
Yes, it's a pattern in general. It's a "premium" product and carries a premium price.

Blu-Ray is usually more expensive than DVD for the same reason.

My Doctor Strange code redeemed in 4K. You have to select iTunes and redeem there. If you put a Blu-ray code into MA it will only redeem in HD.

I still don't understand why everyone buying physical media cares about these stupid codes. Just buy it digitally then, or stream it. You're defeating the point of buying it physically.
Say you enjoy getting less value for the same price without saying you enjoy getting less value for the same price.

It's like if they included a VHS copy. Why would you even want it?

No, it's not like getting a VHS copy. Hardly anyone has a VCR anymore and it's much lower quality than HD streaming. VHS really isn't useful. A digital code for a movie actually has value. You can give it to someone who would use it, if you don't want it. You can trade it for another movie. Or you can use it yourself when you're away from home. Either way, if you have a choice between getting FHD or UHD and it doesn't cost anything, why choose the lesser quality?

I'm with you but many people like to have both options.
Many people watch on the move etc.

For me if I was purposely going to watch a movie digitally, I'm going with the better quality.

If I can get the code I will but I try to sell them to make the disc purchase even better.
I don't calculate the code when I buy, it's just a plus.
