Woke up to pee… checked slickdeals… bought an extension cord I don't need…

The slickdeals effect…

Goodnight
You set off my "pee" alert and now I have an extension cord I don't need.
The extra connection will marginally increase the impedance and thus voltage drop at higher currents. If you require the full load capacity, you are better off with a single 100'.

This will only be significant if the connection is corroded. Which definitely can happen. But if you have corroded connections you're already adding potential issues with vdrop or intermittent connections

A similar cord is $39.99 at Menards.

I've done some reading and from what I gather, all these 12ga cords only have 15a plugs.
Even the 10ga cords have 15a plugs.
And, they all are rated at 1875 w, or less.

Sure do wish I had my old 10 + 8 ga cords. Thieves decided they needed them more than I did.

Wow this is lowest price of all time according to 3Cs. Well done, OP!

I have their 3-way splitter cord from past deals and it is very well-made and beefy.
I think I have two of the same - the three way splitters are super handy

Because 20A plugs/receptacles are incredibly uncommon in residential. I can't recall ever seeing one unless it was used purposefully.

You are right.
In my younger years you could have a 20a 3 prong plug with the 15a blade configuration.
Back then, costs were equal to you getting your own run of 10ga 3 stranded wire and either slap on a 20a plug, or just put your own junction box in it.
Then again, it was all copper stranded wire (don't remember the strand ga, but you could bend the crap out of them and not break the strands)
I will give props to newer tech though. Back then, when it got to freezing, that cord was near impossible to roll up, if at all?
Now days, easy to roll them up in freezing temps.

Anecdotal reply, I reckon?
