Yes 12gauge is perfect for that, especially at only 50 feet. You'd probably want a 10gauge if you wanted to get a 75' or 100 foot extension for your emergency tesla charger. Looks like those Tesla chargers use about 12 amps, so yeah. you're good to go with this 50' for your charger.

Costco deal is better as you get two 25' 12/3 cords for $20.

FWIW, I have been using this brand of cords, the 50' triple tap model for the past 10 years with no issues. They are well built and a good value.

I have a Costco 12/3 but found it only allows 12.5amp and 1600w.

For a moment I thought that I might have a chance to get in on the 100 feet HD YMMV deal. Out of stock at my local stores. I'll just have to wait longer.

Definitely not the version my Costco sold. The box they came in says 125V, 15AMP, 1875 WATT. I did swing by Costco last night and I don't see them being sold currently so it might be a seasonal thing (or they are no longer carrying them).

The T in SJTW means it's thermoplastic, which is that plastic coating that gets very stiff when it's cool or cold out. If you live down south, it might be fine. In the northern states, these absolutely suck. For me, it's SJO or nothing.

I've been using this one regularly for charging my Chevy Volt at the 12 amp setting, it's worked well. I have street parking, so not really any other choice for me for regular charging.

The connector outside did blacken and stop working. The AZ heat probably didn't help for that. I cut that off and replaced the connector, and it has been doing fine since.

It does stiffen up a bit in the "winter" here, but not unworkable. If it gets really cold where you are, indeed, a different jacket material would be better.
