I like these. I picked up a couple of boxes last time and I'm still working my way through them.

I like to throw a bag and 4 cups of water in my Instant Pot for 4 minutes. Makes great tea concentrate. I use the concentrate and half & half for a great milk tea without all the sugar and carbs, minus the boba. My go to treat.

I use 1 of these gallon sized tea bags and 4 cups of water for the concentrate, made in 4 minutes using a pressure cooker. Then about 6:1 ratio, tea to half&half.

I don't use sweetener but you could use anything really. My wife uses a bit of honey. Or you can use regular milk for a slightly sweeter flavor but less creamy, compared to half&half.

You'll need to adjust the tea to cream/milk ratio depending on what you use.
Thanks for sharing this idea!
So, if you use a 1-gallon tea bag to make a 4-cup concentrate, you end up with 1 quart of concentrate, correct? Then, if one just wanted regular strength tea, they'd need to use a 1 to 3 mix (eg, 1 quart concentrate + 3 quarts water = 1 gallon of regular strength tea), I think?
What you describe, 6 parts concentrate + 1 part half & half, is twice the normal strength, right? Is that typical? Please excuse my cluelessness, I'm a newbie! Thanks again!!

Almond milk is good too, it adds a little brown sugar / caramel flavor to it, I like using some mixed with half&half. I just use the regular tea brewing amount, not concentrate. I'll also use some cane sugar and Stevia. I'm drinking some right now.

Yes, that's the idea. You can mix it anyway you want.

I guess the only tip was to use a pressure cooker to make a tea concentrate.

The main reason I did it was to make a formula where the tea didn't taste so watered down. It's also a much more affordable option than to go to a boba place all the time.

TBH, the 6:1 ratio is just an eyeball estimate of mine using a standard pint glass. I fill the pint glass halfway with ice, then pour the tea concentrate up to within an inch of the lip of the glass, then the rest of the way with half & half.

Please adjust this to your preference. I like a strong tea flavor as that is, to me, a close representation of what you'd get at a boba shop without all the sugar.

Why do the ice tea bags taste different than the regular tea bags?
it could be the shipping boxes. We have noticed an odd smell on many Amazon shipping boxes. Like a air freshener smell. Google : Amazon shipping boxes smell funny.

I smelled an odd perfume type of smell with the Lipton gallon size bags from Amazon.

It could be some warehouse use some spray and others don't

in for 1, thx OP!

I am very skeptical that the bag has enough tea for an actual gallon, but I really, REALLY hope it does, because that would be an amazing deal! I could only get one box, but I hope the price holds out a few more days so I can get more.

dude, leaving out the boba pearls might save your life! just saw a vid posted by a very young girl about how she got her same boba order like normal, but all the pearls bonded and got stuck in her large instestine. She had to have $120,000USD surgery and now uses a colostomy bag, which she showed in the video. She's going to have ruined intestines the rest of her life. I didnt even know boba could do that! Yikes, forever!

My first reaction when I read this, I will not lie, was "uh oh, another person who has an IP hammer, and everything looks like a nail?" But I googled the idea and found this page [twosleevers.com], which includes a "scientific" explanation (or at least a good facsimile of one!) for why this works well, and might actually be a superior brew method (as well as more convenient).

Thanks for turning me on to this idea, my apologies for the initial skepticism!
I don't know about that. I have a feeling it has something to do with how they're basically steeping it for more that 20 mins. They make the boiling water seem like the enemy and the high temp non boiling water is the hero. But I've never opened my IP to boiling water unless it's soup. When it boils even under pressure. I can feel it and hear it happen. For meats or anything else it's common to only use a cup of water. I frequently use it for beans and never see the water boil and I always quick release and a decent amount of water to at least cover the beans.
