I want drop 32gb in my PC that already has 16gb (2x 8gb) for a total of 48gb, is there any reason this is not advisable? I see some info online that suggest one should not run 4 sticks of ram, I'd be better off running 2 sticks at 32gb as opposed to 48gb with 4 sticks (hate to waste ram and the 16gb is not really worth selling on eBay). NOT overclocking timings nor care to so that isn't a concern to me.

What's your CPU? I have a 7900x and it doesn't overclock ram well if greater than 2 sticks
The CPU is a i5-13400, and I probably will not be overclocking. I used to mess with overclocking (many years ago) but then I start to overanalyze everything to computer does and how it might be impacted by too much overclocking to not enough. At this point I just leave that fine level tweaking alone so I am not hyperaware...to a fault.

Thanks!
this particular model, G.SKILL Flare X5,is only intended for AMD processors. if you want to get this particular brand then need the S5 variant. I found this out hard way try to use X5 with my i7 13700K + Asus Prime Z790 caused POST and other issues at least for me.

Wow, thanks so much for the information! I had no idea some RAM was CPU brand specific.
i got two sets of these recently and had to return them because the heatsink was bent and not contacting some of the memory. The replacements form newegg had the same problem, so i rma them with gskill and the sets they sent had the same problem too lol
The manufacturing defect was constant on all the sticks. On the right side of the heat spreader in the same spot on all of them.
so if you get a set of these check the heat spreader
