Agreed on good features, but Beware of cpu naming conventions nowadays!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comm...ps_naming/

not a great processor. It is good enough imo but effectively 2 generations old.
Just got mine.

1. Can confirm it has a touchscreen.
2. Laptop was in a nice zippered soft carry sleeve
3. Laptop looks & feels brand new. No signs of use at all. I went over every part of it, and the only thing I could find was a tiny hairline scratch next one of the feet.
4. Very fast, especially compared to my old 6-gen i5 Thinkpad.
5. Has some bloatware, need to uninstall.

Overall, great value for the money. Very satisfied.
This has alot of great features: USB C charging, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, a very solid processor, and a touchscreen. Great deal for the price!

Out of curiosity why do people like touchscreens on a laptop. Gaming? I can't imagine touch being useful for my use case, web browsing, excel, word but maybe I just need to try it.

Still great for the price but only 2 GPU cores and and older Zen 2 cores. I almost bought one but think I would rather spend more and get more. I still have a cheap Acer from 3 years ago that is working great!

Don't see indication of the screens NITS rating?
It is an IPS screen - expect brightness to be in the 250-300 range.
Based on Amazon reviews:
- the ram is not soldered and can be swapped out
- Max RAM the BIOS supports is 32GB (2 x 16).

It has free returns it says clearly seller pays returns
If you click on returns, it clearly says buyer pays return shipping if non-defective. Another person said free returns in the first 30. They aren't clear on what the policy is.

I have the same question. My current laptop has touchscreen and I don't think I've ever used it. All it does is make the screen dirty.

Screen is 250 NITS brightness.

Good specs for the price but I'd rather spend more for slightly better specs, newer with better graphics. I'll keep looking but may go home empty handed.

I looked up the exact model number (A315-24PT-R4U2) and apparently these were sold at Costco and maybe elsewhere. The Costco reviews are mixed, but for the price and 30-day returns if defective, it seems like a good risk.

Also, Costco advertises it as touchscreen so apparently is IS a touchscreen laptop: https://www.costco.com/acer-aspir...38489.html

USB-C charging, 512GB storage SSD, HDMI 2.1, hardware decode AV1, 16GB RAM = reasonably futureproof for this price level, without spending more money on it down the road, and its IPS screen is a bit better than the usual cheapo TN screens. I'm not a nitpicker about nits (screen brightness), because I don't plan to use this laptop outdoors, only indoors.

In for 1.

P.S. For those asking, it's NOT a hardcore gaming laptop. The iGPU is a Radeon 610M which gives you ~9 fps average on Witcher 3 at 1080p. It is good for stuff like Fortnite, Dota 2, Minecraft, and League of Legends only, at 43 fps for Fortnite and higher than that for the others.

you just gotta try it.. most ppl i know will not go back...

scrolling webpages is faster and more precise
easy to copy and paste compared to touchpad, again, more precise
drawing
increase /decrease website font
testing out software / websites .. rather than try to locate the button, just touch screen

this is one feature that is really really nice to have. you DON"T have to use it if you don't like to use it. there is no good reason not to have it. it doesn't increase weight too much overall, doesn't increase cost much either. just as durable.
