One positive of this model for way way down the road (~15ish years), you don't need Internet connection to verify the disc drive if you ever need to replace it. As-is, the current PS5 Slim needs the drive verified, and one day the servers will be shut off. Maybe at some point Sony will turn off the requirement or homebrew will remove the need. But also a chance that never happens.

Not sure if still active but Verizon had the GOW and the Horrizon Disc versions non-skim for this same price for those that might have a Verizon store nearby. No need to be a Verizon cellphone customer.

Could you please elaborate more on the need of drive verification? Do you mean the actual disc drive?
