Lots of people started pulling up to the parking lot within a 10 minute span. I'm still going to be checking if it's an online deal.

To clear up some of the assumptions and ideas with my experiences at Target.

Putting an order for in-store pick up to get the better price on the day of pick up. Best tactic is to say you want to change the payment method while at the store. Have your Target wallet app with all the target circle, coupons, gift cards, and what not applied and ready to go for checkout payment. I don't mention about any special deals just to make it quick. That way when they bring out the product they will then cancel the order and then just scan your Target wallet barcode and all the offers will be applied without resistance.

Also be nice, patient, and courteous and you shouldn't have much resistance. This is not 100% guaranteed and is up to the CSR if they are willing to help you out.

Some CSR may say, since this is an online order, they have to return it back to warehouse. Some stores had said this for the PS5 and XBSX back when these were in limited stock to not allow cancellations for repurchase.

I'm lucky to have many different Target stores nearby all on the way to wherever I need to go on a given day. So I've had experience with many different tactics as to what will work or not.

looks like my one close by store is already sold out for store pickup (oh at 499 rn, I'm assuming the discount goes live later). i'm thinking maybe bought by people going to try return shenanigan's, or maybe they were already sold out.

second closest store 45 miles away has 2, which heck probably really means zero.

total bust as expected.

is target opening at midnight or something?
