They do not. The reps have to run it by a supervisor before allowing any price adjust above $30. The supervisor who is a team lead in turn has only so much price adjustments to give in a day. So there is a chain of command to follow when giving such a big adjustment. I worked for an offshore call center for a big corporation in US. The reps do not get reprimanded

Just ordered mw3 slim, it is processing. Hopefully it is ready for pickup tomorrow. 2nd call agent asked me to place order and they adjusted the price after.
