Disadvantage wise, the PS5 Phat comes with a stand to use the console vertically. May be a non-issue for some, but others will need to find and purchase a stand separately if they got the Slim. PS5 Phat also has an additional heat pipe for (supposedly) better cooling. Whether this affects anything longterm is yet to be seen. Haven't heard of any major issues with the PS5 Phats though, will have to wait and see how PS5 Slims hold up.
Personally, at $299 for the Phat or $349 for the Slim Bundle, I think either is a great deal. Obviously if you really want Spiderman 2 or Modern Warfare 3, the edge might slightly go to the Slim Bundle, but if you don't care about those games, or can wait until they are cheaper, not a big deal.(Technically you could already have purchased MW3 digital for ~$48, and Spiderman 2 digital for ~$56, so price difference is VERY negligible).
I like both deals about the same, though I did end up going with the PS5 Slim w/ Spiderman 2 for $324.99 + tax (after $150.00 refund and 5% red-card discount off $500), and sold my copy of Spiderman 2 already for $50.00.
Too bad the PS5 Slim Digital is now $450 which admittedly isnt a great deal at all.
Do some people just prefer the regular version over the slim for appearance?
There is a new Slim version coming out, which is smaller, has more USB C ports, is exactly the same in terms of what it is capable of compared to the old version, but it uses new technologies that reduce the amount of power consumption and heat produced. The Slim Edition also has the flexibility that you can buy it without an optical drive and later upgrade it to have the optical drive if you wanted too. As you would imagine, Sony also sells the Slim Edition already bundled with the optical drive if you wanted it. The Slim needs to connect to the internet and connect to the PlayStation servers to enable the optical drive, in other words the drive will not work out of the box like the old PS5 Disc Edition console.
Some people prefer the old non-slim version because they don't need internet to use the optical drive. This might no be an issue for the Slim one either as you might need to just activate it one time and then it should work.
The other more obscure reason is because they are more likely to have a firmware version that is old enough to be vulnerable to hacks, ie allows people to run unauthorized software on the PS5.
Last reason is because with this deal it was cheaper than the slim version, although the deal is dead.

I mean at least 200 I'd say.
As a consolation prize, the day of I found the fat ps5 from the original deal available locally. I ordered for pick up expecting it to get cancelled (it said one available). Woke up to a "Ready" text at 7am. Still haven't picked it up though, because I already have a PS5 so waiting till I pass through the area on Tuesday.
