This a good camera for a beginner? I was thinking of the R50 but for this price I thought it was too good to pass up.

Yes, but it's a very different experience, portability-wise. Some people like a small, compact camera and the 150mm, while more versatile, adds a lot of weight and bulk to a very compact camera.

The R10 has an autofocus joystick and a second command dial. This gives you much more control than the R50 does, and you're much less likely to outgrow the R10 as a result.

Can't go wrong with either but R10 would be a great camera at this price . More features for your money and can grow into the more advance features it offers over the R50.

Thanks OP. I was on the fence since Friday. Pulled the trigger and bought it.
This will replace a old T2i body. Plan on using the existing EF lenses with EF to RF adapter.

I have this camera. I purchased the nifty 50mm lens and the pictures come out great. Although there is a slight crop. By the standard lens is good as well tho not the best obviously

They still do, but according to the rep I spoke with, it requires a broken camera and that you mail it to them. I think it's then 15% off, but phone-order only.
