Worse because folks cannot share the product with friends & family
wouldnt that mean you could sign up for 5 different intuit ids and use the same license code as they allow 5 Federal filings? or does this mean all 5 filings have to be made through the same intuit id?

So does that mean if there are 5 members in a family that have to do taxes (husband, wife, three kids) , that they have to buy 5 separate TurboTax software? They can't use a single registration login 5 times?

The same Intuit account login credentials will need to be used when e-filing each of the 5 federal returns.

You need to have an online account and be logged in when you install and enter your license key. This links your account to your software. It also provides a download link if you need to install it again, but you will need to be logged into your account.
I read the license info on the TurboTax site, and it says your license provides 5 free federal e-files. You have to pay for state e-files. If also mentions you have unlimited file by printing and mailing. It doesn't mention what happens if you need a 6th e-file, if you could just pay a fee or not, but you can mail it.
I've always done that with my state filing. E-file federal for free, and print and mail the state.
*sigh* I'd rather wait for a better deal around Christmas, but I've got ~$7 of slow shipping credits expiring on Dec 15. Maybe I'll try H&R Block this year.
Been using Turbotx for more than a dozen years and thinking about using one of the other free or almost free services and see how they compete. Heard some good things about the other ones.
