Yup. Ever since I started doing my own taxes 3 years ago, the approaching new year leaves me with a knot in my stomach knowing I'll have to spend 30 hours or more dealing with this misery. And my taxes aren't even that complicated. It is a massive weight off my shoulders in March when I'm finally done with this crap.

They probably did catch it but didn't flag it because you essentially gave them a free loan

I read the license info on the TurboTax site, and it says your license provides 5 free federal e-files. You have to pay for state e-files. I've always done that with my state filing. E-file federal for free, and print and mail the state.

Won't this also stop people from sharing with other people (neighbors, co-workers etc) since all 5 tax returns will be available to see when everyone has to log into the one intuit account?

The last few years Amazon has had a one day special for this on 12/28 or 12/29. I always buy on that day. Last year was $27.49 for Deluxe plus state. No gift card. Most Slow shipping credits expire on 12/15.
