very nice grinder at this price and I Love the sleek design also. there are a couple posts from Reddit saying their motors tend to fail within a few months. official statement said they will fix the issues on upcoming batch

Yep, I held off on the gen 1 for this reason. Gen 2 is an upgraded all-metal motor, should be fewer issues.

If you're looking for a budget/entry espresso-focused grinder, I recommend the Baratza Encore ESP (Make sure it's the ESP). It's about ~$30-50 cheaper on any given day and typically outperforms the varia (slightly) in taste tests. However, the Varia looks nice and might match your look preferences better.

Placed this order a few days ago. Lowest price I've ever seen with free shipping and no tax to US. I'm not sure if the reviews mentioned above used the hyperburr, but I bought one with the VS3 and I've heard that makes all the difference.
