- Outgoing noise cancellation is fine on all, only complaint was the Sony before I realized you couldn't solo an earbud.
- Sony and these have better ANC and environmental sound settings in my opinion.
- The Sonys sound better at the low end, these are fine but less bass. Samsung was about the same, Plantronics isn't really about that. My ears are probably not the best judge of audio quality generally.
- The Sony you have to use both earbuds all the time. These and Samsung you can use either or both. Plantronics only has the one so...
- Sonys are twice as big, I find these and Samsung comfortable to wear longer. That said my kids hate all in-ears, it certainly takes some getting used to.
- Sony, Plantronics, and these have multipoint, Samsung does not, so I can have my phone going and quickly switch to Teams on the computer when someone calls.
I carry these every day, use them probably an hour or two per day. I got the hum last month in the left, 11 months of use but refurbished so no more warranty. I was able to fix it by taking all the covers off and cleaning out the ear wax with a pin, though I'm sure eventually it will work in to somewhere I can't reach.
I ordered a new set for the warranty, of the options I've found I think these are the best ones for my everyday use case. The tone problem is annoying but I can live with it as an occasional problem. I went through my Plantronics Voyagers about once a year too, when one of the noise cancellation mics would plug up and far-end call quality would drop off. Samsung went through the wash, Sony I haven't used enough to say anything about longevity - got them at the same time as these.
I'm really hoping we get more support for open codecs like LC3 to end this proprietary Qualcomm nonsense.
My take is Google or Apple will give you a better experience and buds in general are a convenience item. None of the buds will sound better than good wired set. Sometimes I still walk out the door with a portable DAC and IEMs, and at home I have the 6xx and xm3. If you are looking at sennheiser, you probably want the best sound quality. I say, sacrifice a little bit there and get much more "fun to use" headphones from a software company. The buds pro sound good and are flat. They don't have the sennheiser magic, but the TW2 didn't really either, and I doubt that changed in 1 gen. You are paying a large % towards the battery and ergonomics anyways so don't forget about the overall picture. Its not just which wireless buds sound the best, wired headphones still exist and will sound better at the same price. If you want convenient fun wireless buds, get the convenient and fun ones.
