You missed Deluxe + State for $45.99. Cheaper than buying state separately, if you need it.

This deal is for Deluxe. The Deluxe+State, is typically offered for a similar price at the end of December. That's the deal to hold out for. Or buy the right one now but it's $45.99. You don't want the Deluxe only, unless you're an American living abroad or something.

Or living in a state without income tax like WA, FL, TX, NV, etc…

Fair. I'll lump that into "or something." Wink Either way, I suspect the standalone Deluxe version is also cheaper in a month.

Premier above includes state which is the level I'm looking for. I usually hold out too but can't remember if the price above is about what we'll expect to see in late dec/jan for premier?

Edit: I went back to look the premier+state with 10 dollar gift card was 64.99 and price drop + purchase was 12/29/2022

This is exactly what I needed. It's about the same as last year with state filing.

Why would someone want to buy this and download versus using the online service?

Some don't want Intuit to have all their personal financial information online.

Also some share their purchase with their family.

It actually says "returnable until January 31, 2024" even though it's a downloadable product. That's a bit of insurance on the pricing. You can even do a gift receipt. That said, it is usually cheaper around December 30 in past years.

I think I'm done paying turbotax fees. Anyone ever use this site? https://www.freetaxusa.com Found it last year or the year before but never tried it.
