Bought the Q900c for the same price. Gave me the flagship highest end soundbar and sub. Definitely a modest upgrade. Then added the 9500s rear speakers from best buy for an additional $125. Difference with these rears over the included ones with the Q910c was literally night and day. Total was $600 for everything. Up to the individual. But I personally could have never been happy with the q910c rear channels. And there is no way to upgrade them as they are attached to a proprietary module. And then are wired out from there.

We have it paired with a Samsung QN85 and use the whole "TV as an extra sound" feature (minor improvement).
Overall, we've been very happy with it. Huge improvement over the Vizio, and in general just a great sounding system for our living room setup. Can't comment about other people saying the rears are underpowered - they sound great in our living room - but I did enable the "Dialogue Enhancement" feature because movies and whatnot were hard to hear occasionally.
Overall, a huge upgrade for $500, and I can't see how the 990 would've been doubly-better at double the price.
Also have a 2 year old 600A plus 9100S for the bedroom that's workable but definitely showing its age.
If I was in the market for new and looking to maximize value/convenience it would be 900C + 9500S all the way. The upfiring rears with the base are a pain for high visibility spaces with the wired base.
Prioritizing sound and channels it was be 990C when the sales come around.
Also have a shit ton of speakers collecting dust and resisting the Adorama Denon deals for now because the soundbars are so much cleaner setup wise (I'm okay missing out on the upgraded sound at least in this house)

I know it's kind of confusing.
But but it's how samsung does things. The only reason the q990c is marketed as an 11.1 model is because they are adding the front and side drivers from the rear speakers to the total count of channels. Giving you 4 more. Hence the 11.1 instead of 7.1. Same exact sound bar though believe it or not...
