These have a bad habit of dying right after the return window.
YMMV. 👍
Based on personal experience?

I went through a few brands, mainly in $100-150 price range and I agree. They're usually faded, or suffer from light bleed. INNOCN OLED was only decent one at that price range.

Once you have used a screen that produces good colors, or OLED screens, there's on going back to cheap screens.
I second this. I got a refurbished INNOCN portable 15" OLED monitor for $120. And I am very happy with the results. I ordered a 15A1F and they accidentally the older 15K1F model. For my purposes it ending being better because it has a dedicated a very accurate sRGB mode that's better for my color grading needs than an HDR mode. But I did contact INNOCN's customer service and they were very responsive and were ready to send me a free shipping label and replacement.

They're also sold on Amazon too if you don't mind paying more.

Can anyone comment on USB-C & or Thunderbolt version requirements for adding additional 1080p or 4K screen with touch to laptops? From what I saw, USB-C is referred to as "Full Function" to have video out ability. Seemed like a particular company's marketing term for a fully capable USB 3 version? Also, for adding additional screen with touch, in the past I think you had to use HDMI and USB connection for the touch option? And now I'm guessing it's all done with one USB-C or Thunderbolt cable that is manufactured up to specs to handle it? Maybe there's a simple resource on all this someone can suggest?

Can anyone recommend a 17" or bigger portable monitor? There's a lot on Amazon but I trust SD peeps way more than Amazon reviewers.

On average, I travel once a year for work and I built a gaming ITX that fits in a carry on luggage but I don't feel safe about checking in or carrying on a full sized monitor.

I have 2 of these no name brand monitors I use for travel with my work laptop using usb c and they have worked wonders.

Both still function great without issues. Great for those who travel for work and need dual monitors.

Great value IMO. I've had mine for over 2 yrs now

For anyone in the market for these, I have and recommend the QQH brand on Amazon. They have an option with the built in cover that doubles as a stand, and I can confirm it works with Nintendo Switch. The only thing that isn't awesome is the speakers are a bit underpowered but I figured that's the case with all of these.
Works with MacBook?

I can't say for sure, I have plugged it into an HP laptop and it worked, powered itself off the USB C port in the single cable.

I'm also looking for a touch version, though I'm worried about it working with Linux. I'd also prefer 2160p so it matches my laptop. Does that exist? And if so, any good cyber Monday deals for one?

Just get a tablet for that, much easier unless you want a project
I have a tablet and a chromebook. Couldn't figure out how to use either as a second monitor.

If that's your use case, keep in mind a phone won't charge it for long if at all. Many have batteries but based on specs and experience you'll get 4 hrs of use off the battery and that's when its new. I've seen run time drop to under 2 hrs in a year. So make sure you have a way to keep everything charged. Some models allow the monitor to supply power over USB-C to a phone/tablet but I haven't used any of those.
