Of course, since they didn't release an SP10 at the usual release timeline, there is no reason for MS to discount last year's model.

- Concur that jumping from 12 (12th gen) to 16 (13th gen) or 20 (14th gen) cores will 100% show a difference....
...Waiting for MS to take advantage of these will put you at a minimum 6-12 months of waiting...unless you want the surface laptop studio!
MS Surface Pro devices are naturally more expensive than any of its competitors but I gotta say coming from a surface pro 7+ with an 11th gen i3 will be a massive boost. (4 to 12 cores, 8GB RAM to 16GB)
These devices truly just work as intended and have an awesome form factor when it comes to portability and standard use.

Also, Surface devices may be even more egregious than Apple in price tiering.
Don't get me wrong, clearly I am here to find an SP9 at price I think is acceptable based on my anecdotal experiences.

They all overheat and get throttled to a crawl, no matter what CPU they ahve inside. (I need to run a small desk fan behind mine.)
Don't even get me started on the "12 hour battery life", which is 3 hours in reality.
And yes, I'll buy and SP9 or SP10 in spite of all that because of the portability. They do cost a ridiculous amount for last year's CPU and disappointing specs. I've never understood why they always come with last year's outgoing CPU. (Well, higher margins I guess.)

I will say the thing will max out 8GB of RAM and start spiking 4 cores of a CPU with only having something like office and chrome open… nothing that forces it to a crawl or to become non functional or degraded though.
The only true gripe I have had is zoom and the SP7 for some reason continuously locks up if I use the native front camera and not an externally connected one. I could never figure out what driver issue this was when dealing with the hardware over 2+ years.

Does swapping out the SSD void the warranty?
