FYI, "Game Pass Core" is more or less the new name for "Xbox Live Gold".

From what I understand you can buy now and just wait until your ultimate expires and then put your 3 years in and convert.

I'd personally wait until getting close to expiration, it's usually pretty easy to find deals like this.

Mine will expire in a week(which I converted live to ultimate for 3 years).. is this a great deal or I need to wait for discounts in eneba?
Hard to say if and when prices on Eneba will drop back down. $45 for 1 year of Game Pass Core is a pretty good deal imo.

So this was interesting since my ultimate expired last week. I actually bought only 2 of these target cards cuz I didnt wanna spend any more. I got the 24 months of core. I signed up for the trial thing, which didnt even charge me $1. It basically upgraded me for 18 months now of ultimate. I didnt even have to complete step #7 since I never got any sort of code to put in. I have no clue what step #7 even does.

So ya... it seems way easier than what's listed in OP thread
Step 7 isn't required and should be removed... seems like the SD staff copied and pasted from another deal thread without making sure all the steps made sense.

Certified Slick. Got a new Xbox 10 days ago and signed up for 14 day trial for a buck.

- Cancel 14 day trial and obtain refund for remaining period.

-purchased three 12month Core from Target for 128 bucks

- Redeemed all three codes for Core membership to expire in November 2026

- Upgraded to Ultimate 14 day trial.

- accepted conversion and new renewal date for Ultimate1 set to December 15, 2025

(note: I tried to redeem code without canceling my 14 day trial and it would only extend the membership by 4 months. I did not accept the conversion and instead followed the steps above).

You made the smart decision to back out of redeeming the code on your trial GP Ultimate subscription. Too many people don't read the details and redeem Core codes on existing Ultimate subs, but 3:2 conversion only works on new and expired subs.

So I maybe have a dumb question.

I'm looking at doing this to mostly use Gamepass on PC, and maybe stream through the TV app, depending on the use/need. Maybe some on Steam Deck as well.

With this method can you have two people logging in and playing simultaneously? One login for my other half on his PC or the TV, and one for me on my PC or the den TV?

worked for me! thank you!!! my subscription expired, so it was an easy decision. dunno how you guys figured this out though… I couldn't even figure out how to get back to the redemption page after redeeming the code (I had to use history). another thing of note, after purchasing from Target, there's a message that says the codes can take up to 4 hours to deliver - mine arrived in about 10 minutes.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but this is not slick. It's standard practice for getting gamepass for cheaper. What was slick was when all ur time converted at a 1:1 ratio

u did save urself some money though

What happened to all the eneba and cdkeys gamepass deals? I expected there to be a lot of them for Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but instead there are none. Gamepass is overpriced as it is.

steve jobs once said (re ipod music players) that America is an ownership society and people don't want to rent digital content, and it was that device that propelled apple back to immense profitability. He also said "i used to love all the nice artwork and such on record covers, it's one thing where digital dload falls short..

fast forward to the present day, Nintendo is offering customer choice on the most popular games (aaa releases etc). Customers may buy physical gamecards and game boxes, or they can dload them. Many games couldn't get published and be available on the switch if they had to find a publisher / manufacturer and deal with retail stores and nationwide shipping / logistics. Many people in the world that love the switch were able to get a hold of one, but many places don't even have retail stores that carry games. A lot of places have internet but not a lot of retail stores period.

Offering digital dload is good, offering physical copies for game enthusiasts / collectors is also good. Nintendo didn't go all in one either one or the other way to acquire and play games. The switch is flexible too, because it can be home tv console, portable handheld or picnic / outdoor table picnic / camping gaming, whatever you like. Nintendo is the company that is pleasing the most customers because of their flexibility on where and how their games can be sold.

xbox and playstation brands are looking to ditch physical game sales all together, looking to make their systems cookie cutter game system (all just standard pc computers underneath the hood). New systems aren't really new hardware at all, it's just like PC gaming where you can choose to upgrade your machine or not. They'll have a lot of games running on both current retail hardware and also the previous console, that's exactly like pc gaming. Microsoft especially pushing this bs game rental idea.

How's that gonna pan out in Japan? they'll sell less and less system there rather than their "genius" plan to grow in market share overseas. in market share , asian markets are serious about their collecting whether it card games like magic the gathering, anime character models to display on a shelt,. A lot of people are proud of the library of games they collected over the years.

How's that idea gonna pan out in the western nations? People will be pissed off and not buy any kind of system offered right now, with the exception of the switch or some other good handheld system like steamdeck or other competitive pc based handheld system offerings. . Sales will tank, customers will just get a pc and pirate all their games just to stick it to sony and microsoft.

Nintendo is the clear winner in the usa regarding the number of units sold in the current generation, leader in the number of games sold. why? it has a lot to do with all the things I've discussed above. It has a lot to do with what steve jobs said about ipod / itunes a long time ago. People are not happy at all with sony or microsoft (and microsoft is the worst of them all, I mean they are really committing suicide right before our eyes. What a bunch of idiots. Is steve balmer secretly still at the helm for Microsoft? bc that would explain a lot EEK!LMAOPeace

I got my son an Xbox for Christmas. Can I do this deal now and activate it later? Or do it all new and just loose a few weeks would be better? Do I need to make him an Xbox account I assume? Can I do this without actually unboxing the xbox? Appreciate it!

Yes, u can do all this without unboxing. I would also say yes, you can wait a few weeks as these codes come from target.

if you are feeling paranoid, my advice is not to view codes. Just make sure they are there. That way, anything happens when u view codes. u have a case
