And no, I don't have Stockholm syndrome. I've seen half a dozen friends and family land six figure jobs immediately after adding these three letters to their résumé.
However, the recertification process every three years is a scam and nothing more than a money grab. Alas..

A lot of my claims run well over 500K in terms of repair costs. Just wondering if having a PMP would be attractive to the insurance companies, as maybe I could start to offer project management services on these huge claims. I already know how to project manage, just curious if the certification would be beneficial and allow me to charge more for my services. In the grand scheme of things this certification is relatively cheap. .

And double lmao for comparing them to an MBA, I guess maybe an online MBA from a Caribbean university that doesn't actually exist.

As far as PMP goes, it's good for putting you in competition with other PMs, and still a preferred criteria to those hiring for the role. I think it's useful to have both a PMP and other Agile certification in combination. I have my PMI-PMP and PMI-ACP, and feel it was useful to prove understanding the concepts for when I was switching jobs to show it could translate to other organizations.
