I did a little self-educating and YES this is a good all-in-one replacement for a 5.1 soundbar system. What you'll end up with this is a 5.2 setup with 2 front, 2 rear, 1 center, and 2 subs. The Denon receiver does support adding ceiling speakers for either a maximum of 7.2 or 5.2.2 but you're only getting the 5.2 out of the box. It also supports passthrough of both Dolby and DTS signals so no running into the issue of any of your discs not being able to passthrough audio.

Two subs is also a thing and is also a very recommended thing. The two configurations most approved are a sub in the front right and the back left or the subs facing each other one on the extreme left of the room and one on the extreme right.

My wife went ahead and already bought this for me because she's outstanding and said it was for Christmas. Total cost including shipping was 1535.

Is this a good deal for someone looking for a quick all-in-one switch from a soundbar 5.1 setup to a "real" 5.1 speaker setup? Primarily for blu-ray and 4K disc viewing so ability to passthrough DTS:X and Dolby audio channels is a must.

Also, two subs? Is that a thing? One front one back? Sorry for being a noob...

Is Klipsch a decent brand anymore? I know they were pretty good back in the 70s, but I assume like everything else they would have been sold off to an Asian company at this point.

Is this a good deal for someone looking for a quick all-in-one switch from a soundbar 5.1?
- Been looking at set-ups for a while and this is a great deal. All together the componets are easily over 2.5k+
- Based on reviews people seem to like it except for the speakers may have cheap plastic feet. Maybe you can remove them?
- Now going from a soundbar to this system will be a big difference because there is alot more finagling (Messing with audio settings, adjusting positions of speakers, etc)
- Don't know about the DTS or Dolby. I think this system is compatable with Dolby atmos.

Also, two subs? Is that a thing? One front one back? Sorry for being a noob...
- Two subs is a thing and the reciver has a port for two subs.
- Usually the subs go in the front of the room, you can find dolby guides on where to set your speakers

Keep in mind this kit does not come with the wiring and you will have to buy that seperate. Either bulk caple and splice the ends yourself or cable with plugs already attached. May also need a good HMDI cable from the reciever to your TV.
Other than that you're good to go with this system.
I am noob too when it comes to sound, because you can get lost in forum post after forum post of people talking the alien language of sound.

Costco bundle has a bit diff speaker models than this and also it doesn't come with any sub or a receiver . I got the speakers last season (799) added a sub (199) and a denon 7.2 all from costco all rounding to 1400$ so this does look like a much sweeter deal for an additional sub. Also if you are willing to spend a bit extra SD folks prefer going upto Ref Premiere line which is much better than these. I havent listened to the premiere line but for an non audiophile the current set up is more than enough for me and my space !

heads up that the description on SlickDeals says bookshelf speakers are R-41M, but the bundle includes R-14M 4" bookshelf speakers from Ador

Good catch! I'm glad it's the R-14M and not the R-41M. The R-14M's aesthetic is clearly what was meant to be included in this bundle.
