Gosh, I wish Samsung would come out with a 512GB or 1TB version of this!
Agreed, and I'm sure they eventually will, and I'll probably get one then.

This thing is really fast considering the size.

I've had this for over half a year and use it as an encrypted secondary backup drive that I carry around on my keychain in case something happens to me data at home, e.g. fire, theft, etc. I like it so far, a lot. Very small, fast, capacious, reliable, and, yes, cute. As for the cap, like the body it has a small loop that you can fit a nylon-reinforced keychain string through to keep both attached to each other. Someone posted a photo of how it's done above. Every couple of years I get a new keychain backup drive, twice the capacity of the previous one to handle my growing data, as insurance against inevitable failure. This should last me a while, until it's time to get a 512GB one.

Not seeing the post regarding the keychain string. Link?

I don't think these have 270 write speed. The most I get on mine is a little more than 100 write, copying large files. Read is fast, as the item description says, but Samsung doesn't seem to state what the write speed is.
Amazon states the write speed is 300MB/s. Is there reason to believe this may be off?

Been using ones like these for years on my keychain, never lost a drive. You loop the end around a larger ring, then that on the key holder.

A couple of reasons -- first, I basically posted my write speed results with one I actually own. It wasn't 300. It was 100 write speed. Second, Amazon is not the authority on specs. If you look on Samsung's site, nowhere does it state what the write speed actually is except to say " Memory Speed -- Up to 400MB/s read speed, write speed is lower than read speed." Samsung basically wants you to see 400 (transfer speed ie. read speed) and doesn't want you to see the lower 100 write speed number. But for me, in Windows, it shows 100MB/s write.

Lastly, you can look at all the customer images. Quite a few speed tests. None show a write speed over 60-100.

So there you have it. Amazon is wrong. Surprised?

Agreed. In a class by itself. People try to misuse this as a replacement for a faster thunderbolt drive and are disappointed. It's a thumb drive. A tiny one. It doesn't have the heat dissipation of a larger SSD with a heatsink. But, for what it is, it's the smallest and fastest thumb drive I've found that's also very affordable.

When you get your drive, go here:

* https://semiconductor.samsung.com...ort/tools/

Scroll down to "Card & UFD Software" and download "Samsung Card-UFD Authentication Utility".

It isn't very obvious from the listing, but this is a Samsung utility which will quickly tell you if your drive is authentic or not. Amazon comingles inventory so you may get a fake. Check it before you put any data on it that you care about!

Such a ratio of read/write speeds is usually a characteristic of QLC at best.
Any link to datasheet for 256gb?

I would like to know as well. Would a fellow SD'er who has one of these measure connector length for us?😃
