The only thing I could see is taking the RAM up to 32 GB.
Thoughts on if the value is there to buy this now for an eventual baseline towards an RTX5000 or wait?

Pretty much anything at or above 700w PSU is banned. While majority of the country and the world we have computer freedom.

Note my excitement coming from an old AMD Ryzen 7 1800X / RX580 system for this.
I've had DIMMS which were matched perfectly to the OEM that didn't work because they weren't in the same FAB and something minor got changed.
Granted, once was with RAMBUS (which is very touchy to begin with and why it's obsolete) but the second time was with DDR3.
You can upgrade all of the sticks at once with matched pairs and guarantee it will work every time, but trying to get OEM sourced parts is usually a headache.
They use what they use for a reason and it's often whatever is going to return the best margins.
If you're going to upgrade the capacity, it's a good opportunity to also upgrade the clock speed or timings.
It doesn't show up in the benchmarks that are the staple of most GPU reviews but we are starting to see games that don't produce good results with only 8GB of VRAM.
I suspect that trend is only going to get worse as time passes.
