This was originally my post, and SD staff transformed it - now it says the OP is Staff, they changed the description, and reposted my original description as a comment made "by me"
I don't put a lot of stock in fake internet points but that seems like an interesting way to handle people's deal posts... and seeing them create a comment using my account is pretty creepy, full stop
Edit: According to the mod response, this post was made first by staff, they merged my (apparently later) post with it, and then moved my description in as a comment. That at least makes some sense but still kinda odd seeing a comment that I didn't create.

Black only, free shipping. Note that this is the HHS (Humbucker/single coil/single coil) pickup configuration, whereas a typical strat has single coil only.
The HSS picture shows a maple fingerboard, and the description says Indian Laurel fingerboard. Does anyone know what is actually being shipped?
I just looked. I think you'll have to ask Fender. They do indeed show a maple fretboard in the photo but the options and specs both say Indian laurel. I suspect you'll get laurel. If you don't, you can use it to negotiate a better discount!

I completely agree. They should be able to note that the staffer edited the post, but leave the owner/author as the person who actually wrote it.
I submitted a Mod Alert on the OP to complain about this.
Mod response: "Thanks for sharing your concerns, if you check the timestamps on each post, the staff member was the first to post this deal, and the newer one was merged into it as a repost, to help keep matching content together."

I called Fender. He couldn't tell me for sure if it has Maple or Laurel board either. My guess is thats Laurel. He said no to a discount too. Oh well, had to try.

You can only contemplate a discount once they've sent you a guitar. First of all, be sure to screen shot or print-to-PDF the parts of the page showing the photos and the "laurel".
If you get laurel, you can point to the photos and say you expected maple. If you get maple, you can point to the description and say you expected laurel. You can also point out that you asked before ordering and received an unclear answer. It's likely cheaper for Fender to make a price adjustment of $10-$20 than to pay the return shipping PLUS handling a returned guitar that can't be sold as new.

I do encourage you to be honest. If it's the fretboard you actually wanted, take the deal they made you. Only negotiate further if, really, you'd have preferred "the other model."

Totally. I really do want it in maple, but will ask for a break if I get Laurel. I been looking online a little more, and I did find that the HSS model with maple is available overseas. Most other vendors here in the states has it in Laurel

I've always loved the look of maple, but I have to admit I prefer playing the dark fretboards (rosewood, pau ferro, bubinga, ebony).

The issue is that his post was not the first one on the deal, so there was no modification to his original post. They could have just dumped it entirely, but as a courtesy, they incorporated his comment. If he does not like that he can remove the comment.

That's what they're saying, and the timestamps seem to support it. They might consider some kind of a status of "combined thread" or something to make clear what happened.
It takes a bit of time to put together a good deal post (including checking for a repost, natch), so doing everything possible to give credit to those at least TRYING to help is a good thing on a system like this.
