    Looks like the recall was back in 2017, and this is supposedly the improved version without the defects that were issued as replacements for the 2017 units. You may still be eligible to send yours in for a replacement.

    I bought one in 2019 and it constantly freezes up just from sitting there and there's no Allen key hole in the bottom of it to free it up... you've got to put a broomstick in there. It's a piece of crap. It's the half horsepower version if that matters

    Purchased and installed in 2011. From Amazon. Mine stopped turning on just a month or so ago. Called up the manufacture which goes through "Moen" for a replacement. Told them the steps I took to troubleshoot it. They had me take a picture of the serial number and send the Amazon PDF invoice.

    Within 3 days I had a new garbage disposal and quickly just replaced the broken one using everything the same.

    Installed with plumbers putty. No leaks.

    Would definitely recommend these to anyone for just this reason.

    Keep seeing the occasional deals for these things but I'm still waiting for my 25 year old insinkerator to skip a beat. With the way some people talk about getting 5-10 years from units like this as if it was impressive I'll keep using what I have now until it completely dies.

    In my previous house, I had installed a 3/4HP Waste King model L-3300 that I paid ~$90 for in 2013. It was excellent. The new house is an improvement in every way, except for the disposer. Although it's a minor thing, that lack of improvement is something that I've been mildly annoyed by repeatedly, but not enough to do anything about it. For this price point for the 1HP, I'll go ahead and address my slightly insane pet peeve.
